Four Wheels Bad, Two Wheels Good!

Yes, it's been a while! I really should have placed a bet on my last posting. It could be pretty likely that the JCB song could be number 1 for Christmas! Ahh well, you live and learn.

Been job-searching. It sucks. And to top it off I'm crap at interviews! Have been doing a bit of part-time school retreat work but everything else I seem to be getting involved with these days seems to be "voluntary"! God-damn volunteer organisations!

Another one of my voluntary contributions was to help JJ attempt to beat the city into giving more rights (and bicycle lanes!) to cyclists in this city. It all stemmed from JJ's bike being stolen and a well-written letter to a national paper. The response he got was surprising and quick so why not strike while the iron is hot and he held a public meeting ("Two Wheels Forward") about the issue. I contributed from an economic benefits of cycling point of view and there was a good turn-out and response. So he is still trying to keep the ball moving (or should I say the wheels?!?) and strike again while there is still interest and enthusiasm about it.

Went to see the comedian Des Bishop (see links). He is very real and very funny. His new TV series is on after Christmas, where he goes to "disadvantaged areas" around Ireland and lives there for a month and holds stand-up-comedy workshops for the local youths (and of course obtains some priceless material for his own shows). He was really funny live, and there was something real about him too. You wouldn't see many well-known people going to the places he did. A great night out.

Thats it for now
